Wow! A year ago today I hit the “publish” button on my very first post. Time sure does fly when you’re having fun. Its been a great journey of learning, working hard and fully putting myself out there. I have no regrets pushing that “publish” button on September 14, 2016. I’m happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and allowed myself to grow in ways that I never knew were possible. Come down memory lane with me as I share with you what pushed me to start a blog, the meaning behind “The Fabulous 1” and where I plan on taking it in the near future.
How It All Started
Growing up I got bullied a lot which made me very reserved. After school or church, I couldn’t wait to seclude myself in my room so I can write in my journal, cut out pretty pictures from various fashion magazines and design clothes for my Barbie dolls. My creativity has always been my outlet. As an adult, that passion stuck with me but I was afraid of ever creating a blog led alone try to make it a business. After working two twelve hour shifts at the hospital, on the third night a patient passed away. It’s nothing new for me to see someone go or put in a body bag but for some odd reason that one death really got to me. I’m not one to express emotions when I’m in work mode but I could not help to think did that person really enjoyed life and lived it to their highest potential. That really made me question some things in my own life. After my shift I rushed home, unwind, turned on my laptop and that’s when I decided to embark on this new journey.
Before I started this blog, I was pretty clear that my niche was going to be fashion and style because that’s what I knew and felt comfortable talking about. However, the biggest challenge I quickly came across was finding a name for the blog. I wanted a name that would inspire all women from all walks of life and something that stood out. Domain name after domain name, all were coming up as “taken” or “unavailable”. I started to get frustrated but I didn’t give up. Hours went by and I was getting very tired. Then BAM! all of the sudden it hit me. The Fabulous 1 was “available”. I didn’t have much to say in my first post but it started to grow as time went on.
Why The Fabulous 1?
I’m a firm believer that a lot of the decisions and problems that we face in life steams from our mindset. Throughout my life I’ve seen a lot of women held themselves back or stayed in relationships they had no business staying in all due to lack of self-esteem, self-worth, negative self-talk or the opinions of peers and sociality. You are what you think and what you think is what you become. We were all born to be fabulous. Everyone’s A Fabulous 1 and once we as an individual excepts that, we start to believe it and it manifest in our day-to-day lives. No matter your financial status, race or ethnicity, we all have the great potential to be a Fabulous1.
What’s Next?
I’m definitely not quitting anytime soon. I’m having way too much fun 😃. I plan on diving more into different niches like lifestyle and travel, publish ebooks, podcasts, brand collaborations, guest speaking, travel, modeling, branding and so much more.
What I love best is the sense of freedom I have since starting this blog. It allows me to be an inspiration to others and for others to inspire me. No rules, limitation, take it anywhere and has the potential to open great opportunities.
Thank you to each and every one of you who has supported me, follow, like and share this blog. You’re all AMAZING and just remember YOU’RE A FABULOUS 1. I love you!!!
